CMS has issued a memorandum to LTC surveyors clarifying the expiration of requirements related to COVID Staff Vaccination for all provider types, effective August 5, 2023. In addition, this memo states that CMS will not be enforcing the staff vaccination provisions retro to June 5, 2023.
Please find CMS’ memorandum to State Survey Agency Directors dated July 25th, 2023, expiring the October 26, 2022, “Revised Guidance for Staff Vaccination Requirements.” This memo includes the retroactive language to June 5th, 2023.
The Point Is: While CMS is dedicated to protecting our residents, perhaps voices are being heard and steps are being taken to remove barriers to staffing.
