October’s Care Compare refresh features updated data, including SNF Quality Reporting (QRP) information.
Updates in this refresh include:
- Removal of two assessment-based measures
- SNF Functional Outcome Measure: Change in Self-Care Score for Skilled Nursing Facility Residents
- SNF Functional Outcome Measure: Change in Mobility Score for Skilled Nursing Facility Residents
- Addition of the new Expected DC Functional Improvement score
- Publicly reported at this time
- The January 1, 2025 refresh will affect the 5-Star Quality Measure rating for this metric
Expected DC Functional Improvement Score Defined:
This measure reports the percentage of residents who are at or above their expected ability at discharge from the SNF for specific self-care and mobility activities.

So the Point Is: CMS has given us an early look at our performance in this new measure ahead of the January 5-Star refresh when it will start affecting the Short-Stay QM score.
