December 10th, Senator Boozman (R-AR) introduced S.5007 the companion bill to H.R. 8702 – Holding Providers Harmless From Medicare Cuts During COVID-19 Act of 2020.
CMS’ 2021 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) Final rule includes substantial reduction in payment to more than three dozen health care provider specialties effective Jan 1, 2021. Included in these cuts are rehabilitation services, portable x-ray, physician and nurse practitioner visits. Those impacted include residents residing in SNFs’, AL’s and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities – our most vulnerable citizens.
Similar to the House Version, S.5007 will provide a 2-year reprieve from these cuts.
The time for advocacy is now as Congress has only a few days left to enact legislation that could include these supportive bills.
NASL has prepared a letter accessed in the link below which can be completed in under 2 minutes (by anyone) urging Senators for their support in co-sponsoring S. 5007 in addition to including this bipartisan legislation in any legislative packages moving forward during the final days of this Congress.
