Blog: Countdown to 4/17 – QRM’s iQIES Q&A

Counting down to the mandatory iQIES transition on April 17th, we thought we’d share a few commonly asked questions to help clarify and ease the transition.

Q:  What is iQIES (Internet Quality Improvement and Evaluation System)?

A:  Effective April 17th, 2023, the IQIES system will become the only method used for transmitting the MDS for payment and retrieval of facility specific performance reports. This is the home to everything you need to manage provider and patient information and monitor quality outcomes.

Q: As an Administrator/Owner/Operator, what do I need to do prior to the transition?

A:  Ensure each community has registered 1-2 users for the iQIES system in one of two roles:

  1. Provider Security Official (PSO) – This role will provide access to all system functionality, including assigning facility staff to specific system access.
  2. Assessment Coordinator – This role allows the user to create, modify or deactivate assessments in the “iQIES Assessment User Tool”.

Q:  How do we register?

A:  Register in the HCQIS Access Roles and Profile (HARP) system, a secure identity management portal provided by CMS.

  1. For assistance with your MDS/CASPER login ID/password, contact iqies@cms.hhs.gov
  2. For other questions, visit the CMS Help Desk or call 800.339.9313.

So the Point Is: Have questions? The IQIES help page is full of helpful resources to provide assistance. As always, let us know if we can be of any help.
